Christmas in the Shelter is No Place to Be!
Ever considered being a foster parent for the shelter? We are looking for foster parents for our adoptable animals to give them the chance to experience the Christmas holiday in a home. Call the shelter to get more info about making a difference in a shelter pet's life this holiday season.

Jingle Bell Boarding
Animals adopted after December 20th can be held at the shelter for Christmas Eve pickup. There will be a fee of $5.00 per day.

We’re asking everyone to open their heart and/or home to a homeless pet this holiday season. Last year, a new world adoption record with 491,612 adoptions was set, 232 adopted from NAFC AnimalShelter.
Iams Home 4 the Holidays has set a goal this year to place 1 million, orphaned animals into happy and loving homes this holiday season, we hope that over 300 will be from the NAFC Animal Shelter.

We now are offering Free Pet Loss and Support Resources!

Through education, support and information, Gail Heller with Chance's Spot assists the public in understanding that the grief suffered when a dearly loved pet is lost is a heartfelt example of how genuine the human-animal bond can be. New Albany Floyd County Animal Control and Shelter understands this as well and is going to offer our Pet Loss Education and Support Group meeting on Wednesday, January 21st 2009 in the Greentree Mall community room, from 7pm to 8pm.

The group is free and open to pet caregivers, veterinarians and staff, or anyone that has lost a pet. This meeting will be the 3rd Wednesday of every month, for more information or give us a call!

Need Help With Spaying and Neutering Your Pet?

Every 2nd Tuesday of the month animals are picked up here at the shelter and transported to a low cost clinic in Louisville, KY. spayed/neutered and returned on Wednesday afternoon. Next transports on January 13, 2009 or February 10, 2008! Must pre-register and pre-pay in order to participate, by January 5, 2009 or February 3, 2009. Can't come to the shelter? We can come to your event!

The "WAGS N' WHISKERS WAGON" is our mobile off-site adoption vehicle. Outfitted to be self contained it can come to your event with adoptable animals. This vehicle gets booked quickly and is available to most any event but events in Floyd County, IN get priority. With its great graphics and paint job we think it really stands out and "barks" it's a real crowd pleaser. For more information please contact Theresa Stilger at (812) 948-5355.

We are doing an "Extreme Kennel Makeover"

Our municipal animal shelter is very unique in that it does not set time limits for adoptable animals to be placed in homes. As a result, it is important that their stay be as comfortable and loving as possible. In response to this challenge, we are initiating our “Extreme Kennel Makeover” campaign. Each adoptable kennel or cage can be sponsored by an individual or business. The sponsorship will allow the kennel or cage to be outfitrted with an indestructible, custom built bed or shelf for cats; dog or cat toys; stainless steel bowls; and training tools for the dogs. A permanent dedication or memorial sign will be designed for each kennel or cage with the sponsors information.
Contact us and ask to speak with Theresa or David, the cost is $300.00 per kennel (SORRY, NO MORE KENNELS) just cat condos at $150.00 per cat cage to establish your sponsorship. Only limited numbers of sponsorships are available, so set up yours today! Call 812-948-5355 for more information.
Thanks to ASHI for their help with this project!
